Active Calibration of Space Variant Sensors
نویسندگان
چکیده
This paper presents new active calibration techniques capable of handling the strong distortions of lenses that exhibit critical features of human-like vision: a wide eld of view for global detection and high resolution at the fovea for precise observation. Those techniques can be achieved online and are based on the combination of controlled camera motion and tracking of environmental features. A self-alignement process of a stereo platform using a similar procedure is also presented.

Motion Estimation-based Self-Calibration of a Log-polar Pan-Tilt Camera
Two topics intimately linked to active vision are spacevariant vision and mechanical devices. On the one hand, log-polar images is a biologically inspired space-variant imaging model featuring very attractive properties. On the other hand, pan-tilt heads are a common platform in active vision, allowing the observer to dynamically perceive the environment. In order to relate motor commands (for ...
متن کاملA General Framework for Temporal Calibration of Multiple Proprioceptive and Exteroceptive Sensors
Fusion of data from multiple sensors can enable robust navigation in varied environments. However, for optimal performance, the sensors must be calibrated relative to one another. Full sensor-to-sensor calibration is a spatiotemporal problem: we require an accurate estimate of the relative timing of measurements for each pair of sensors, in addition to the 6-DOF sensor-to-sensor transform. In t...
متن کاملError Analysis of Airborne Multisensory Systems
One aspect of the recent paradigm shift in geospatial information sciences is that data acquisition and processing systems have moved away from the single sensor-based model to advanced integrated multisensory systems, which typically include imaging and navigation sensors. Active sensors, such as Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) and Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (IFSAR), are rout...
متن کاملTop-Down Gaze Targeting for Space-Variant Active Vision
The simultaneous need for a wide angle of eld and high resolution has led to the use of spatially variant sensors in active vision systems. The use of such sensors however necessitates the existence of gaze control mechanisms for guiding the foveal high resolution region of the sensor to points of interest in the visual world. While bottom-up alerting cues such as motion have previously been us...
متن کاملCalibration of an Inertial Accelerometer using Trained Neural Network by Levenberg-Marquardt Algorithm for Vehicle Navigation
The designing of advanced driver assistance systems and autonomous vehicles needs measurement of dynamical variations of vehicle, such as acceleration, velocity and yaw rate. Designed adaptive controllers to control lateral and longitudinal vehicle dynamics are based on the measured variables. Inertial MEMS-based sensors have some benefits including low price and low consumption that make them ...
